It's showtime!

As I write this, it's already dark outside - but not for much longer! Soon it will be spring and we've a whole host of exciting opportunities ahead. The first major event for us is of course Craft, Hobby + Stitch International - the only dedicated trade show for the craft industry. It's a great opportunity to meet up with existing customers and meet potential new ones, to showcase the latest products or find out about what's in the pipeline, what trends to watch out for and what the general mood is. There is sure to be lots to see and consider - especially for the forthcoming Diamond Jubilee and then the Olympics.

As well as the two major events mentioned, we also have the annual special occasions to consider, so we've included features on two spring promotions, Easter and Mother's Day - both great opportunities to bring exciting new ideas and products to your customers. Dressmaking and all the associated products are also still enjoying a boom and we report on what many of the major players in the sewing industry are doing to help promote this area of crafting.

A big part of Craft Focus is the expert business advice featured to help our readers run their businesses successfully. This issue is no exception, with some timely tips on getting noticed on Google, increasing customer loyalty, helpful hints on in-store displays and some useful insurance solutions. We've also got advice on what to do about cookies, following a change in the law that could be costly to website owners and we share tips on protecting your intellectual property - particularly pertinent information if you are about to launch new products at the CHSI show.

Finally, this is my last issue of Craft Focus. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with KD Media, but need to concentrate on many of my other commitments, writing another book, some TV work and more... There are exciting times ahead for everyone involved in crafting - so I wish everyone a very successful and prosperous 2012.
